Hugo Inglis is a four-time New Zealand Olympic field hockey player with over a decade at the top of international elite sport. He is also co-founder of High Impact Athletes (HIA), a global movement empowering athletes to fund the world’s most effective climate and social solutions.
In recognition of his leadership at the intersection of sport and climate action, Hugo was named one of two athlete winners of the IOC Climate Action Awards 2025, announced in the lead-up to the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
Under his leadership, HIA has grown to 220+ athletes across 48 sports and 34 countries, collectively driving $1.9M in donations, improving 435,000+ lives, protecting 6.8M+ animals, and mitigating 600,000+ tonnes of CO₂e. Grounded in science, technology, and storytelling, Hugo is committed to turning sport’s cultural power into real-world impact.
