“Having supported the club since 1985 and worked for the club as coach in the 1990s, this will be a start of a special relationship with Cambridge United. Cambridge as a city is globally synonymous with Education, Technology and Science. From a football perspective, we have had one of the best seasons for decades including our The Football Association Cup 3rd round victory away to Newcastle United Football Club! Historically Cambridge is the birthplace for the modern rules of football. In 1848 a group of students from Cambridge University wrote a set of 11 rules for a game of football. Nailed to the trees surrounding Parkers Piece, this was the first time that football as we know it has any formalised laws, and from this small patch of land in Cambridge a game would be spread to encompass every corner of the world was born. We look forward to this collaboration with Cambridge United”
