Darren is a Consultant with the Charles Russell Speechlys sports team and co-founder of Sport 360 Consulting. He has worked exclusively in sport for over 28 years, representing a range of sports clients, including national, European and international federations, major events, football clubs and players. Clients included, the IRB (now World Rugby), Six Nations, European Rugby Cup, Rugby World Cup, Premier League Clubs, a range of UK governing bodies and government funding agencies. He advised in a number of watershed court and CAS cases in the area of antidoping, representing the International Tennis Federation.
Darren became the International Rugby Board’s first Director of legal and legislative affairs, assuming overall responsibility for all legal matters on five Rugby World Cups before going on to become the Director of Football Governance and regulation at the English FA. He subsequently became a Director of The Professional Game Match Officials limited which appoints referees to the English Premier League, assumed responsibility for the FA Cup, oversaw the FA legal team and attended meetings of the English Football Collective Bargaining organisation. He established the Integrity Unit for English Football acted as Chief Regulatory Officer and was a member of UEFAs Player Status Committee. He was later appointed by the UK government to represent the UK on the EU Good Governance in Sport Working Group, becoming Chair and leading on the identification of the 10 Principles of Good Governance for sporting bodies. He was also co-chair of the Sports Betting Integrity Forum. Darren was the lead lawyer on the groundbreaking ITF Davis Cup/Kosmos deal.”
